Elvalee Roberts Sipes

March 17, 1925 — January 22, 2016

Elvalee Virginia Sipes, 90, of Rison, earned her heavenly reward on January 22, 2016, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Sipes was the daughter of Benjamin and Ida Maude (Aikens) Roberts. She was born March 17, 1925 in Rison. On August 21st of 1942, she married Raymond “Jack” Sipes in Rowell. They were happily married for 62 years, and they had three children: Pat, Dennis, and Terry. Mrs. Sipes deeply loved her family, community, and church. She was an integral part of the foundation of Trinity Faith Assembly Of God church. At Trinity Faith, Mrs. Sipes taught Sunday school and was an active member of the Women’s Ministries, where she served as President for many years. She was a member of The Garden Club in Rison. In the 1970's, she was a foster mother to children of the Hot Springs Children's Home, and she donated many of her hand-made quilts to the Native American Indian Reservations in need. Mrs. Sipes owned Variety Bake Shop for many years and made hundreds of wedding and birthday cakes. She loved to cook, read her Bible, sew, and garden. Mrs. Sipes was an unwavering prayer warrior, and she loved signing along to hymns in church. Mrs. Sipes was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “Jack” Sipes; son, Dennis Sipes; six sisters, five brothers and grandson-in-law, Randy White.

Left with loving memories are her children: Pat (George) Ryan of Little Rock and Terry (Jennifer) Sipes of Rison; eight grandchildren: Becki (Chris) Swindell of Little Rock, Susan White of Little Rock, Gary (Stacey) Sipes of Rison, Barry Sipes of Monticello, Shari (John) Wilkerson of Star City, Brooke (Jason) Allison of Rison, Blair (Joe) Cook of Jonesboro, and Jena (Eric) Shepherd of Sheridan; eleven great grandchildren: Klayton White of Little Rock, Kristen (Kyle) Harvell of Little Rock, Ashley Swindell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dalton Swindell of Fayetteville, Morgan Matthias of Little Rock, Abigail Wilkerson of Star City, Madison Sipes, Kaylin Sipes, Caleb Sipes, Faith Sipes, and Reid Allison, all of Rison. Mrs. Sipes leaves two great-great grandchildren: Autumn Leilani Harvell and Issac Alexander Harvell, both of Little Rock.

Visitation will be at 10:00 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 Monday, January 25, 2015 at Trinity Faith Assembly of God church in Rison conducted by Pastors Travis George and Kenny Swiger. Pallbearers are Dale Greenham, Virgil Hogan, Bobby Hamilton, Dale Motsinger, G. L. Langford and Chris Swindell. Memorials may be made to Trinity Faith Assembly of God church. A special word of appreciation to her caregivers at Cottage #3 of The Greenhouse Cottages of Southern Hills for their years of caring for Mrs. Sipes.
