Ellen Church Spakes

Ellen Church Spakes, age 75, passed away on November 25, 2023.  She was born February 18, 1948 in Pine Bluff, AR to the late Wilton and Adeline Church.  Ellen was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School. She retired from Pine Bluff Arsenal after 30 years in the Civilian Personnel Department. She grew up as a member of South Side Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, later she joined the First Baptist Church of Lula, MS, Watson Chapel Baptist Church and finally Rison Methodist Church.  Ellen enjoyed reading, boat rides, camping, music, vacations, and traveling with her loving husband and family.  She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Jerry, two daughters, Holly McAllister (Pat), and Shelly Davis (Brian), five granddaughters, Alex, Tristen, Emily, Megan, Sunnie and her great granddaughter, Ruby, and by numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Rowell Cemetery in the Rowell community.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that a donation be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
