Edna Merle Reed

Edna Merle Reed, age 85, of Rison went to be with the Lord, Monday, March 21, 2016. She was born July 24, 1930 in Keefton, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Nelson C. Smoot and Oletha Kathryn Houlden Smoot. Mrs. Reed sold Tupperware for eighteen years and enjoyed hobbies as quilting and needlepoint. She loved participating in "Friday Night Skip-bo" and was a faithful member of Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Noah Franklin Reed; son, Vernon Reed and brother, James Smoot.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Gray and husband, Bill of Rison; three grandchildren, Kim Reed and husband, Rodney of Rison, James Gray and wife, Katia of Rison, Robert F. Reed and wife, Dayna of Lake Charles, Louisiana and five great grandchildren, James Ryan Reed, Harrison Reed, Abby Gray, Isaac Gray and Lilly Gray.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Buie Funeral Chapel in Rison with Brother John Patrick Fulmer officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson Cemetery in Rison. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers are Ronald Thompson, David Davis, James Powell, Billy Knowles, Steve Gray and Donnie Wilson. Memorials can be made to Bethel #1 Youth Missions Project. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
