Dr. Earl Guyer, 97, of Vilonia, AR, died on November 9, 2023 of natural causes. He was born
on July 17, 1926, in Williamsport, PA. After graduating high school in Hughesville, PA, he
served in the Army Air Force during WWII. Following his discharge, he obtained a B.A. degree
from Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Penn State University.
For over 30 years, he worked as a clinical psychologist at VA hospitals and was the chief of
psychology services at hospitals in Colorado and Arkansas. He retired in 1982. Dr. Guyer was
a member of the alumni association of Lycoming and Penn State. He belonged to the Conway
Running Club, the American Legion, the National Rifle Association, and the Law Enforcement
Alliance of Arkansas. During his life he was active in athletics and shooting sports and was an
avid runner. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marlene Guyer, daughters Gloria Guyer of
Vilonia, AR, and Mary Bauer (Michael) of Fayetteville, AR, and grandsons Landis Bauer and
Vincent Bauer.
