Durrett C. Mcgriff

Amanda Durrett Christian (Jackie) McGriff age 95 of Rison, formerly of Star City died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at her home. She was born May 25, 1914 in Hattisburg, Mississippi, a daughter of the late William Langdon Christian and Jessie Miles Cox. Mrs. McGriff retired from the Lincoln County Health Department where she was the office manager, was a homemaker and of the Assembly of God faith. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Dr. John Tyler Christian, Evelyn Graham Quin Christian; husband, Veto Lee McGriff; one brother; three sisters; three half sisters.

Mrs. McGriff is survived by one son, Lee Edward McGriff of Star City; one daughter, Janis Ruth Scott of Rison; one half sister, Jean Saunders of Little Rock; six grandchildren, Mark Langdon McGriff, Miles Edward McGriff, Michael Earl McGriff, Monda Conner, Michelle Keever and Leann Frye; three step grandchildren, Terry Kirtley, Scott Kirtley and Shawn Kirtley; eleven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special caregiver and friend, David Gene Owen.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Buie Funeral Chapel in Rison with Reverend Thomas McGriff officiating. The family will be at the home of Lee McGriff, Highway 212, Star City after the memorial service. Mrs. McGriff requested that no flowers be sent.
