Doug Whitener, 56, of Ward, went to his Heavenly home June 20, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was born August 9, 1962 at Madrid, Spain.
Doug was a charismatic, positive and upbeat man. He loved a good joke and always had a smile and hug and tried to find the silver lining in every cloud. He was also a big man with an even bigger heart who never met a stranger. He was a career over-the-road truck driver. He was a good handy man, but always underestimated how long his projects would take. Most of all, he believed that God is good, ALL THE TIME.
He married Anda Pucka Whitener August 22, 2009 at Sidon, Arkansas; she survives. He is also survived by three sons, Shawn Romine (Heather) of Greenbrier, Douglas Whitener II and Casey Whitener both of Searcy; one daughter, Brianna Whitener of the home; two grandsons, Grayson and Hudson Romine; his mother, Teddie Smith Sandifer of Searcy; father, Dorman Whitener (Edite) of Jasper, AL; three sisters, Sheila Jennings (Bart) of Searcy, Dixie Bryant (Rick) of Hillsboro, MO, and Nancy Duren (Randy) of Benton, AR; as well as many extended family and friends.
The family will have a memorial service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Searcy.
