Dortha Jean Bone

Dortha Jean Bone, age 97, of Griffithville, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 6, 2024. She was born July 23, 1926, in Cave City, Arkansas, to the late Audie E. Shirley and Maxie A. Ring Shirley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” H. Bone, her siblings, C. O’Neal Shirley, David L. Shirley, Ruthel J. Shirley Stanley, Alma M. Shirley Jones, Billy Don Shirley, A. Willene Shirley Kusler, G. Fay Shirley Dill, Bertha M. Shirley Buffington, William J. Shirley, Brother-in-law Bennie Taylor. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved cooking for family and friends who loved to gather around her table. She also loved sewing, quilting, and gardening; she especially liked working with her flowers and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Shirley J. Gibson Powell and her husband Clay, grandchildren, Derrick G. Niemi and his wife Davetta, Jerrad C. Powell and his wife Ami, and Alissa A. Prather and her husband Chris, great-grandchildren, Dakota Patterson and her husband Adam, Dara Davis and her husband Dylan, Dayla Niemi, Cayden Prather, Calhan Prather, Aylah Prather, James Powell, and Abby Powell, great-great-grandchildren, Carson Patterson, Everett Patterson and Penelope Patterson and her sister A. Joyce Shirley Taylor. She was also preceded in death by and leaves behind numerous close friends that she loved dearly.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024, with funeral services following at 10:00 a.m. at Sullivan Funeral Care in Kensett, Arkansas.
