Dorothy V. Cooper, 73, of the Herbine Community near Rison, died Saturday January 12, 2008 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. She was born August 8, 1934 in Dale County, Alabama, a daughter of the late Lonnie W. Miller and Mattie Davis Hall. Ms. Cooper was a homemaker and member of Tabernacle of Faith Church in Monticello. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ted Hall; husband, James Garland Cooper, and brother, Lonnell Miller.
Survivors include a daughter Linda Cooper of the Herbine Community; brother Leon Miller of Kansas City, Kansas; four sisters, Joann Hartzog of Deatsville, Alabama; Betty Smith of Ariton, Alabama; Sherry Whitman of Enterprise, Alabama; and Jennifer Bowen of Ozark, Alabama; two grandchildren, Crystal and Derrel Lantrip of White Hall; six great grandchildren, Joel Lantrip, Justin Lantrip, Jon Lantrip, Savanna McDonald, Jill Lantrip, and Dillon Lantrip, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Buie Funeral Chapel in Rison with Brother Terry Norris officiating. Burial will follow in the Prosperity Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, January 14, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers will be Daniel Cooper, Shane Neely, Derrel Lantrip, John McDonald, Randy Hollis, Kip Reep and honorary pallbearers Micheal Cooper, and Leon Miller.
