Doris Jean (Harrison) Melton

Doris Melton, 84, of West Point, passed from this life December 4, 2014 at her residence. She was born October 3, 1930 in Searcy to the late Cornelius and Grace Holden Harrison.
Mrs. Melton spent majority of her career as a Medical Transcriptionist, lastly retiring at Dr. Ransom’s office at the age of 70. She was a member of Whitney Lane Family Worship Center and loved her church family dearly. She enjoyed reading and Christmas was her favorite holiday because it celebrated the birth of our Savior.
She married Wendell E. “Dub” Melton May 9, 1948 and he preceded her in death March 2, 1997.
Her legacy will live on with her beloved family; three sons, Jerry Melton of West Point, Jim Melton and wife Judy of Searcy, and Eric Melton and wife Jenny of Hendersonville, TN; two daughters, Jennifer Melton of Denver, CO., and Barbara Sipes and husband Mike of Bentonville, Ark.; two sisters, Betty Flashing of Oakland, OR., and Carol Wilhite and husband Charles of Little Rock, Ark.; ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, December 6, at Sullivan Funeral Care. Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 7 at Whitney Lane Family Worship Center in Kensett with Rev. Eric Melton officiating. Interment will follow at West Point Cemetery.
