Donald Poppy Wheatley

October 6, 1943 — August 21, 2016

Donald “Poppy” Wheatley, 72, of Searcy, passed away August 21, 2016 at his residence.  He was born October 6, 1943 at Holyoke, Massachusetts to the late Charles and Arlie Harris Wheatley.
He was a member of Whitney Lane Family Worship Center and was a Veteran of the US Army.  He received an Associates Degree from Dyersburg State College and LPN Training at the Vocational School in Searcy.  He and his wife owned Victory Place – Adult Day Health Care in Searcy.  He will be forever remembered for his love of laughter and immaculate care of the patients.
He married Jane Caraway Wheatley November 24, 1965 at Deering, Missouri; she survives.  He is also survived by two sons, Donald Alan Wheatley (Teresa) of Kensett and Jason Wheatley (Keisha) of Searcy; grandchildren, Heather, Megan, Krystian, Stephen, Jessie, Braylen, and Savannah; great grandchildren, Chase, Jaylyn, Jamie, Annabelle, and Liam; seven brothers, Jerry Wheatley (Marie) and Larry Wheatley (Linda) both of Springfield, Mo., Wayne Wheatley (Mary) of Wardell, Mo., Terry Wheatley (Becky) of Alabama, Mike Wheatley (Janet) of Hollister, Mo., Tony Wheatley (Raina) of Saddlebrook, Mo., Steve Wheatley (Julia) of Steele, Mo.; two sisters, Rita Gestring of Wardell, Mo., and Tammie Gist (Bill) of Manila, Ark.; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will begin 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Whitney Lane Family Worship Center in Kensett until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tommy Williams officiating.  Cremation will follow services under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Care of Kensett.

Lasting Memorials may be made to Whitney Lane Youth Group Fund
