Donald "Don" Smith

Donald "Don" Smith, age 68, of the Glendale Community died Sunday, July 24, 2016. Mr. Smith was born June 21, 1948 in Warren, a son of the late John Melvin and Mable Gene Reed Smith. He retired from Evergreen/International Paper Company after many years of employment. Mr. Smith served with the United States Navy in Vietnam. He enjoyed sport shooting and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Pine Bluff Gun Club. Mr. Smith was a Sunday regular at the nearby flea markets and attending gun shows. He loved spending time with his family, being outdoors and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Smith of Glendale; daughter, Amber Smith Long and husband, Scott of East End; brother, Billy C. Smith of Monticello; mother-in-law, Sylvia Slaughter of Rapid City, South Dakota; two grandchildren, Noah and Abby Long of East End.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Buie Funeral Home chapel in Rison with Doctor Ryan Rush officiating. Interment will follow in Rowell Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Clay Cross, Mike Walls, Mike Holland, Jerry "J.J." Jacks, Mark Blackwood and Kyle Wood; honorary pallbearers are Dale Teague and Larry Daniels. Memorials may be made to Good Faith Carr Memorial Scholarship Fund. Funeral arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
