Donald (Don) Larry Lewis, age 79, passed away on January 30, 2025, surrounded by his family at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born May 21, 1945, in Jacksonville, Arkansas to Oscar and Mary Lewis. Don was preceded in death by his sisters Wanda Bradley and Martha Perkins, and his parents.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 19 years, Brenda Lewis, of Vilonia; son, Danny Lewis, of Vilonia; son, Terry Lewis, of Vilonia; son Larry Lewis (Crissy) of Mt Vernon, son Greg Lewis (Mandy) of Vilonia, and twin daughters, Mandy Ussery (Brad) and Sandy Lewis (Robbie), both of Vilonia; sister, Edith Simmons, of Vilonia, stepdaughter Melissa Spears (Shawn) of Austin, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Don’s career was centered around construction. He was a General Superintendent for a large construction company in the early days of his career and then moved on to residential construction later. While his specialty was construction, his expertise didn’t stop there. He was a jack of all trades…. electrician, plumber, mechanic, or heavy machine operator, he could do it all. And many of his family members and friends leaned on him regularly for help in those areas, as well as many more.
Don was loved by many due to his kindness and his gift of gab. He loved to talk to anyone who would listen. He had an excellent memory, which came in handy when he would tell stories of years gone by. We often heard the same stories multiple times, but because of his story telling abilities, we enjoyed hearing them over and over. And if you ever got him started on politics, you better clear your calendar because the man was passionate about politics!
While he is physically gone, the memories we made with him will stay with us forever. As a father, he provided everything his family needed, making him someone his children admired and loved. As a friend, he was loyal and always willing to help, making him respected and adored by all.
The family would like to thank the kind nurses and doctors at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He, as well as our family, was treated with compassion and kindness during his entire stay there. We could not have asked for a better team to take care of our father.
Per Don’s request, there will be a private memorial to celebrate his life for his immediate family members at a date and time TBD.
