Donald Gene Herring

Our beloved father & Pawpaw Don who loved us greater than anything else in the world passed from this life on August 2, 2024. He was born to Charles William (Bill) Herring & Geneva Rucker on January 27, 1956, in Pine Bluff Arkansas. He was a graduate of Dollarway High School Class of 1974. Don went on to marry the love of his life Belinda Gail Heird on July 18, 1977. Together they had two sons Jeremy & Timothy. Both of which he was very proud of. Don worked very hard to provide for his family, he made sure they never went without. Don spent the latter part of his career working for Port City Janitors Supply as a salesman for 18 years before retiring in 2014. Don enjoyed hunting, catching big fish, and spending time with his family. While this sums up a big part of his life his most favorite part came when he became pawpaw in 2003. Don would spend his days working and come home to spend his evenings playing with his grandkids. Sometimes this involved pushing trucks, dancing in the kitchen, and even receiving imaginary haircuts with toy pliers. He never complained. When he couldn't spend time with his family he spent many hours looking at their pictures. He was faithful to making sure they had anything they needed. Don was a loyal friend to many. If he liked you, you knew it, and if he didn't well you knew that also. He spent many days praying for his family and his family spent many days praying for him. While we maintained hope for healing, our hearts are left grieving. The texts he was ever so faithful to send, will be that which we cling to in the end, Our dad, our pawpaw and friend we “love you bunches”. Don is survived by his Son Jeremy Herring & wife Kalyn. His son Timothy Herring, His grandson Hunter Herring, Granddaughters Faithlyn & Ella Herring all of which are from Sheridan & Grandaughter Natalie McClellan of East End. His Sister, Cindy Franklin. He is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, nieces, and nephews along with many loyal friends. Don was preceded in death by his Father Charles William (Bill) Herring, his mother, Geneva Rucker, His brother Robert (Roy) Herring, and his beloved friend Donnie Ritchie.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan.

Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan, with burial to follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in Sheridan.
