Dixie Lee (Dugan) Clark, age 73, of Little Rock, Arkansas formerly of Sheridan, Arkansas passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013. She was born May 6, 1940 in De Ridder, Louisiana, the daughter of the late John William Dugan and Minnie Lou (Reeve) Dugan. Dixie retired from Area Agency on Aging Southeast Arkansas as the COO in 2009. At St. Anthony's Health Care Center in Morrilton she worked as an Eldercare Director. She earned her Masters of Arts Degree specializing in Gerontology Administration and Policy. Dixie worked for Area Agency on Aging in North Little Rock as an Executive Director for thirteen years and for Area Agency on Aging in Pine Bluff as a Director of Strategic Operations for three years. She has served on the Arkansas Association of Area Agencies on Aging as President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Legislative Chairman and served on the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging Board of Directors as Secretary for two terms. She was involved in the National Council on Aging Center on Rural Aging (Region VI Delegate) for two terms, Southwest Society on Aging Board of Directors for three terms, and was the Lifestyles Columnist for the Arkansas Democrat. Dixie was well known for hosting the radio talk show, Senior Talk with Dixie Clark, on KARN. Her outstanding leadership and accomplishments were recognized with several awards such as, National Endowment for the Humanities Public Policy Award, North Little Rock Housing Authority Chairman's Award for Outstanding Accomplishments in Aging, Outstanding Service in the Field of Aging by the John L. McClelland Veterans Administration Hospital, Arkansas Association of Area Agencies on Aging Outstanding Leadership Award, Human Service Provider Agency Inc. Appreciation Award, University of Arkansas at Little Rock Dept. of Communicative Disorders Appreciation Award, Area Agency on Aging of Southeast Arkansas Brett H. Bradshaw Caring and Sharing Award, Arkansas House of Representatives Outstanding Arkansan, Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton Outstanding Arkansan and Citizen of Merit, University of Southern California Levi Strauss Scholarship to Ethel Percy Andrus Gerontology Center, Aging Arkansas Founding Editorial Board Chairman and Executive Editor and Columnist, Arkansas Energy and Aging Consortium Founding Chairman, and Who's Who in U.S. Writers and Editors. She was truly loved by all who knew her. Dixie was a member of First Baptist Church in Sheridan. Dixie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert "Lee" Clark and son, Robert Lee McEntire, Jr. Dixie is survived by her daughter, Lillie Kaur of Little Rock; son, Charles William McEntire of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Lillie Nicole, Jonathon, Jean-Luc, and Timothy; and great-grandson, Elijah. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 27 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Sheridan with Brother Ernest DeSoto officiating.
