Dewey Cotton

Dewey Dude Edward Cotton of Sheridan, Arkansas was born February 7, 1923, the son of the late Henry and Eliza Cotton. He was a member of Hope Pentecostal Church in Sheridan and an honorary member of Taylor Smith Hunting Club. He served in the Army during World War II in Germany by building bridges. Dewey and was a retired logger for Wayne Holloway. He loved hunting, fishing, and gospel music. You could find him everyday enjoying himself at the Grant County Senior Citizen Center. Dude went to be with the Lord and was surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, June2, 2011 at the age of 88. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Easter Williams Cotton; grandson, Chris Nichols; brothers, John Ivory Cotton, Floyd Cotton, and Lee Cotton; sisters, Ethel Campbell and Cecil Massey. Dude is survived by a daughter, Glenda and her husband Arnold Lafferty of Sheridan; sons, Harold and his wife Shonda Cotton of Grapevine and Carroll and his wife Barbara Cotton of Sheridan; a sister, Dean Riley of Sheridan; four grandchildren, Amy Casey, Danny Cotton, Brandon Cotton and Matt Cotton; four great grandchildren, Blair, Eli, Alissah, and Presley; a special friend, Joyce Charrier. Services to celebrate his life will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Hope Pentecostal Church in Sheridan with Brother Marvin Webb and Brother Raymond Derrick officiating. Burial will follow at Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Pallbearers are his nephews: James Massey, Rick Massey, Kenneth Williams, Chester Williams, Eddie Joe Williams, and Billy Joe Cotton. Honorary pallbearers are: Steve Bryant and Linn Reed. Memorials may be made in his name to the Saline Hospice in Bryant and the Grant County Senior Center in Sheridan. Please sign the online guest register at www.buiefuneralhome.com.
