Dewell "Nick" Lewis

Dewell D. "Nick" Lewis, age 90 of Lake City, Florida, died, Friday, December 21, 2012, in the Haven Hospice of the Suwannee Valley Care Center. He was born June 22, 1922 in Rowell, a son of the late Lucius and Frances Faye "Jimmie" Smith Lewis. Mr. Lewis lived the majority of his life in Montpelier, Louisiana, where he was a member of Montpelier Baptist Church and had worked for and retired from Paul David Lumber, Inc. in Amite, Louisiana. He relocated to Lake City, Florida in 2001 to be close to his daughter. Mr. Lewis loved to fish, hunt, gardening, traveling and spending time with his family. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ella Roberts Lewis on December 30, 1998; three brothers, James Henry Lewis, Hobert H. Lewis and Thomas David Lewis. Mr. Lewis is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Betty Ann and John Brehm of Lake City, Florida and Georgie Sue Lewis of Hammond, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Desire McDaniel, Sean McDaniel, Andrea Brunet, Philip Brehm, Eric Robertson and Grant Blackmon; four great grandchildren, Hailey Robertson, Alex Brunet, Abbigal Brunet and Bode McDaniel. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Center Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Travis Roberts and Reverend Benny Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Rowell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to service time at the church. Pallbearers are Sean McDaniel, Jared Brunet, Eric Robertson, Grant Blackmon, Danny Thomas, Charlie Lewis and Richard Terry.
