DeLois Maxine Sledge went home to be with Jesus on December 3, 2023. “Lois” was born on March 30, 1943, near Senath, Missouri to Ople and Clarence Noble. Her 80-year legacy is her family. She was a devoted wife to her high school sweetheart Bill for 56 years, loving mother to her 3 sons and their families, and a caring grandmother to her 8 grand children and 2 great grandsons. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning, and preparing amazing meals for family gatherings and potlucks. Among family and friends, she was famous for her made from scratch pies which were always beyond delicious. If you were one of her children or grandchildren, you were likely a recipient of at least one of her custom-made quilts which were always hand stitched and made with fabrics she chose specifically for you. She very much enjoyed gathering with God’s people and was always very active with her church family where she served faithfully. She loved to sing and hear others sing as she always had a smile on her face and song in her heart. Her default attribute was to serve others. This was reflected in how she chose to live her life. In addition to the many ways she served her family and church, she also was sought out and hired to drive a bus and prepare food for the students of Searcy Public Schools where she retired after a long career she was very proud of. She was loved by all who knew her and is already missed immensely.
