Dean E. Neel

SFC, Sarge Dean E. Neel age 74 of Rison, died Thursday, February 14, 2008 at his home. He was born August 12, 1933 at Norfork, Arkansas, a son of the late Roe S. Neel Sr. and Annie Stewart Neel. Mr. Neel served in the Army for twenty one years, serving in the Vietnam War, Korean War and the Cuban Crisis before his retirement. He taught at Pine Bluff High School as an Automotive Instructor as well as at Pines Vo-Tech. Mr. Neel was an EMT for Cleveland County Ambulance Service and served as a Mounted Patrol with the Cleveland County Sheriffs office and was a member of Rison Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Edna Poss Neel; one daughter, Bonnie Lee Neel; one brother, Billy Neel; four sisters, Bonnie Neel, Adean Neel Elam, Mary Louise Neel Kiefer, Elizabeth Neel.

Mr. Neel is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Larry D. and Charri A. Neel of Branson, Missouri; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Carter King of Rison, Jo Ann and Russell Melton of Pine Bluff; one brother, Pete Neel of Rison; seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2008 at Rison Baptist Church with Brother Wade Totty and Reverend Joe Lee Poss officiating. Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery at Grapevine. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2008 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. The Army will serve as pallbearers and grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
