Dawaine "Sonny" Kirtley, age 69 of Woodlawn, died, Monday, December 24, 2012. He was born March 22, 1943 in Dumas, a son of the late Freelon Alex Kirtley and Bonnie Boyd Kirtley Chavis. Mr. Kirtley was a Tow Boat Captain for thirty eight years serving a total of forty two years, having worked his last ten years and retiring from the Motor Vessel Sandy N. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. Mr. Kirtley was also an Arkansas Constable of the Whiteville Township for twenty two years, an active member of the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Department for twenty nine years and served in the National Guards. He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Kirtley Morris. Mr. Kirtley is survived by his wife, Sondra Jordan Kirtley of Woodlawn; daughter and sons-in-law, Tanya and Rick Rupe of Rowell, Glynn Morris of Austin, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Paula Kirtley of Bolivar, Missouri; five grandchildren, Brian Rupe and Samantha Rupe of Rowell, Rikki Rupe and Sydney Rupe of Russellville, Ashley Morris of Austin, Texas. Funeral services are 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with Reverend Garry Wiles officiating. Burial will follow in Rowell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2012 at Buie Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Randy Rauls, Chuck Valentine, Owen Rushing, Robert Rushing, Richard Taylor, Jimmie Billings, Scotty Vinson, Justin Womack, John Woolley and Lynn Wooley.
