David Miles Ellis

November 17, 1946 — December 9, 2016

David Miles Ellis, age 70, of Sheridan passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 at his home. He was born November 17, 1946 in Sheridan, the son of the late Thurman Albert Ellis and Mittie DuVall Ellis. Mr. Ellis was a member, as well as a Sunday School Superintendent of Moore’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Sheridan. He was also a member of the American Legion in Sheridan. Mr. Ellis was an avid deer hunter. After 25 years of service, Mr. Ellis retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory, wife, Susie Ellis of Sheridan; sons, Keith Walters, Miles Ellis, and Thurman Ellis, all of Sheridan; daughter, Michelle Watson and her husband, Eric of Sheridan; brothers, Charles Ellis of Sheridan and Donald (Pat) Ellis; sisters, Marie (Charles) Buie of Sweet Home and Verna Lou Carter of Des Arc; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Moore’s Chapel Methodist Church in Sheridan with Pastor Lindsey Saenz officiating. Interment will follow at Moore’s Chapel Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Allen Ellis, David Wayne Ellis, Tony Harris, Leslie Tannahill, David Paty, William Pumphrey, John Wayne Austin, and Robbie O’Neal. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Farmer, Mike Kilcrease, Kenneth Davenport, Larry Pumphrey, Homer Knighten, Jim Harris, and Ronnie Harris. Memorials may be made to the Moore’s Chapel United Methodist Church/Moore’s Chapel Cemetery, 403 East 9th Avenue, Leola, Arkansas 72084. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Sheridan.
