Daniel "Cigar" Clyde Jones

Daniel "Cigar" Clyde Jones, age 86, of Lubbock, Texas passed away October 10, 2015 at his home surrounded by those that loved him. He was born July 22, 1929 in Bradley County, a son of Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Jones. Daniel served in the United States Army, Company D 32nd Tank Battalion at Fort Knox. Most of his career was spent in the food industry, upper management and human relations. The later years he found boredom in retirement, so he took a job working for the railroad at the Slaton Train Depot. He thoroughly enjoyed working with the railroad men, and Daniel continued to work until the age of 86 years old. Daniel was full of life, and lived for his family. He was very much a people person and never met a stranger. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Webster and Oda Jones; one brother, Ray Boyd; two daughters, Cindy and Pam, and countless cousins, friends, and family. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Doss Jones; two sons, Randy D. Jones and Wendy of Round Rock, Texas, Ricky C. Jones of Lubbock, Texas; one daughter Vickey Orgely and Wendell of Littlefield, Texas; one brother, Bill Jones and Georgia of Warren; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with Mr. Tommy Tiner and Mr. Rex Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Prosperity Cemetery in Herbine. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Chad Harmon, Jerry Wayne Stockman, Scott Stockman, Dale Sprawls, Steve Doss and David Doss; honorary pallbearers are Bill Vinson, Bob Vinson and Charlie Harmon. Memorials can be made to Area Community Hospice of Lubbock, Texas. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison.
