Curtis Hopper

Curtis Hopper, age 87, of Rison, Arkansas passed away on September 19, 2014. Mr. Hopper was born April 18, 1927 in Banks, a son of the late Asa Jefferson Hopper and Mary L. King Hopper. He was a 1949 graduate of Rison High School where he played football, and retired from Central Moloney Inc. after 43 Years of service. Mr. Hopper enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Promise Land Hunting club. He served as a Rison City Councilman for over 20 years, was a mason and a member of the Culpepper Masonic Lodge #186. Mr. Hopper was of the Assembly of God faith and loved spending time with his family. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Hattie Mae Jones Hopper; son, Michael Curtis Hopper; daughter, Betty Jean Hopper Lloyd; two grandchildren, Alexander Smith and Danny Martin Lloyd; an infant great grandson; two sisters, Verdie Lee Theirs and Dorothy Raybon; and three brothers, Asa Hopper, Derwood Hopper and Kermit Hopper. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 51 years, Penny Ann Word Hopper of Rison whom he married August 7, 1963; son, James "Jim" Curtis Hopper of Rison; four daughters, Tonya Sue Hopper of Rison, Patricia Langley of Fordyce, Glenda Joyce Lopez of Sheridan and Debbie Valdez of Rison; eight grandchildren, Dylan Wolfe, Tailor Sidwell, Lillian Hopper Quarles, Christopher Shawn Langley, Lindsay Berry, Matthew Kimbrough, Kristy Beals and Lynn Lloyd; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services are Monday, September 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Buie Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clay Stubbs officiating with burial to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Rison. Pallbearers are Dylan Wolfe, Vincent Wolfe, Bradley Bell, Havis Kimbrough, Brandon Doss, Bart Berry, Jerry Brown and Cleve Reed Jr. Visitation is Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 6-8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Greenwood Cemetery Association.
