C.R. Vaughan Jr., 77, of Searcy passed peacefully while in the comfort of his home November 24, 2020. He was born July 14, 1943 at North Little Rock to the late Clarence Robert Vaughan Sr. and Margrete Simpson Vaughan. He married the love of his life, Janice Woodfield Vaughan, July 29, 1995 at Romance; she survives. Together they shared 25 wonderful years of matrimony.
The “Big Chief” oversaw the North Little Rock fire departments. He served faithfully to the fire fighting community for 36 years. He also served in the Army National Guard for 9 years. His service to his country and his community were an important part of who C.R. was. He was a collector of many things: clock, coins, knives, firetrucks, and smiles. We say smiles because of his witty sense of humor and the hard time he would give you just to hear your laughter. He will be remembered for his hard work, his carpentry skills, and being the provider for a family he loved dearly.
Along with his wife, Janice, he is survived by his two daughters, Michelle Vaughan of Searcy and Rebecca Van Winkle (Scotty) of Romance; son Kevin Vaughan (Stacie) of Romance; grandchildren, Amber (Kenzie), Cullin, Aidan, Matthew, and Christopher (Rachel); three great granddaughters, Kelsie, Jade, and Sierra; and one sister, Donnis York.
A Memorial Service to honor his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020 at the Romance Full Gospel Church. Due to COVID-19, please wear facial masks and practice social distancing.
