Cole Haley Davis, Jr.

Cole Haley 'Sonny' Davis Jr. was born in Little Dixie, AR at home on November 23rd, 1942 to Cole Haley Davis Sr. and Mollie Jewell Joyner Davis.  He was known as Sonny to his family and Cole to his friends.  He was of Baptist faith and a member at Little Creek Baptist Church.

Cole was a Meat Cutter (Butcher) for 44 years and worked in Sheridan at Fiser's Grocery for 40 years.  He was an active member of the Sheridan community and served in the Jaycees and the Sheridan Softball Association for many years.  He and friends began a softball league for youth girls in Sheridan where he had a great time coaching his daughters and many other girls for over 20 years.  He was an avid golfer and a member of the Sheridan Country Club.  After retirement, he spent his time golfing and drinking coffee at local restaurants with friends as well as enjoying time with family.

Cole went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 4th, 2024 at Arkansas Baptist Hospital.  Cole was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Donald Hunter, Jerry 'Butch' Davis and Larry Davis, his sister Irene Scott and his step son Brandon Owens.  He is survived by his loving daughters Lauri (Joe) Sworan and Colleen Davis, sister Linda Whitaker, wife Diane Davis, step-daughter Brandi Kimmel, sister-in-laws Barbara Davis, Paula Davis and Linda Hunter.  He was also blessed with grand-children Jayce Davis, Kyle Grove, Keegan Grove, Damian Sworan, Jacob Sworan, Cesar Sworan, and Audri Sworan, his great-grandson Hudson, as well as many awesome nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends.

Pallbearers will be Rickey Whitaker, Jim Taggart, Chris Knighton, Marks Mitchell, Pete Pitre, Steve Bailey and Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Fiser, Bob Logan, Eddie Moring, John Tolson and John Peck.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2024, at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan with Bro. Brent Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Lost Creek Cemetery.
