Clifton W. Simmons

Clifton William Slim Simmons, age 87 of Rison, passed away Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Green House Cottages of Southern Hills Nursing Home in Rison. He was born June 7, 1924 in New Edinburg, the eighth of ten children of the late Henry James Simmons and Mattie Lee Sims Simmons. Mr. Simmons was a farmer and spent his life taking care of his parents and his brother, Johnnie. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Johnnie Simmons and Robert Simmons; five sisters, Myrtle Simmons, Ida Belle Simmons, Mary Freeman, Dovie Pruitt and Ruthie Coats.

Mr. Simmons is survived by two brothers, James Simmons and J. P. Simmons (Rena) of Pine Bluff.

Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Mosley Cemetery near New Edinburg with Reverend Travis George officiating. Visitation is 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. The family wishes to thank the staff of Greenhouse Cottages for their concern and care.
