Claudie Akines

Claudie Akines, age 72 of Pine Bluff, died Friday, September 11, 2009 at his home. He was born October 27, 1936 in Cleveland County, a son of the late Lawrence Akines and Linnie McGriff Akines. Mr. Akines retired from Central Maloney after forty three years of service. He was a member of J.D.D. Hunting Club at Rison and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He was also preceded in death by one son, Johnny Lawrence Akines; four brothers, Jirel Akines, Wilman Akines, Homer Dale Akines and Edward Akines.

Mr. Akines is survived by his wife of thirty five years, Martha Morrison Akines of Pine Bluff; a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2009 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Pine Bluff with Brother Dewey Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation is 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers are Rob Varnell, Tyler Akines, Josh Hill, Randel Brockman, Danny Akines, Chris Phillips, Lee Akines and Bryan Akines.
