Chester Fred Simmons

Chester Fred Simmons Jr., age 67 of Sheridan, AR went to be with his Lord, July 27, 2020 after a long illness.  He was born June 11, 1953 in Texarkana, AR to the late Chester F. Simmons Sr. and Lillie Shaddox Simmons.  After graduating high school, Chester attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a degree in education. In 1975 he graduated from St. Vincent School of Nursing, and worked in the nursing field for many wonderful years. Chester and Diana moved to Sheridan in 2017, and were faithful members of Calvary Baptist Church in Sheridan.  Chester, also known as “Fred” was a very intelligent man, remembering everything he read, or heard, and was the author of 6 books.  He loved telling funny stories, playing his guitar, and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Bath and Alice Survilla Walker, and nephew Benji Avery.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Diana Dixon Simmons, sister, Johnnie Carol Edwards of Redwater, TX and a host of loving nieces and nephews. He will be truly missed, but he is with his Lord waiting for his family to join him.

A service for Chester will be held at a later date.
