Charlie M. Hankins

Charlie M. Hankins, age 84, of Glendale, died, Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born September 24, 1927 in Lincoln County, a son of the late Charlie and Iva Anderson Hankins. Mr. Hankins served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He retired from the Pine Bluff Arsenal where he was a master pipe fitter. Mr. Hankins was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church for forty six years, where he was an adult Sunday school teacher and enjoyed singing in the choir. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Hankins; three sisters, Lizzie McKinney, Mary Ann Heller and Edna Farley. Mr. Hankins is survived by his wife, Joye Kimbrell Hankins of Glendale; two sons, David Selvey of Dumas and Eddie Selvey of Calico Rock; three daughters and son-in-law, Millicent and Josh Milano of Glendale, Kathy Pope of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Valerie Kelton of Ft. Worth, Texas; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee and Dina Hankins of Glendale, Tom Hankins of Rison, Vernon and Joyce Hankins of Woodlawn; two sisters, Eva Woodworth of Princeton, Illinois and Trisha Brister of Leesville, Louisiana; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; nephews, Steven Hankins of Star City and Daniel Hankins of Glendale. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 26, 2011 at Buie Funeral Home with Brother Johnie Brewster officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., prior to service. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Pallbearers are Kris Erstine, Scotty Hankins, Jon Lucas, Justin Johnson, Britt Talent and Todd Wingard. A Special Thanks to the Hospice Angels and Jamie Hankins. Memorials may be made to Friendship Cemetery Association, 1300 Brushy Creek Road, Rison, Arkansas 71665.
