Charles Ray Van Winkle

August 7, 1938 — May 12, 2018

Charles Ray Van Winkle was born August 7, 1938 to the late David Franklin and Avis Bradshaw Van Winkle in Blum, Texas.  He passed from this life May 12, 2018 in Rose Bud, AR.  He was a member of the Church of Christ and was a preacher of the Gospel for over 60 years.  He was a retired coach, teacher, and school administrator in Arkansas, Texas, and Kansas; lastly retiring due to his health in 1994.
Charles is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Cooper Van Winkle; two sons, David Wayne (Denise) Van Winkle and Philip Ray Van Winkle.  He was the proud grandfather of Christopher (Stacia) Van Winkle, Noah Paul Van Winkle, Lindsay Ann (Cody) Weatherly, and Maggie Elizabeth Van Winkle;  and one great grandson, Titus.  He is also survived by one brother, David Edward (Paula) Van Winkle, and many nieces and nephews who affectionately called him “Uncle Chuck”.
Charles was a graduate of Harding Academy in 1957 and graduated from Harding University in 1960 with a degree in Bible and Psychology.  He will be greatly missed by his family and numerous friends.
The family will have a memorial service at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Griffithville Church of Christ, 1624 Hwy 11, in Griffithville with Minister Garry Neal and Dr. Ed Higginbotham officiating.
