Charles Thomasson

Charles Noel Thomasson age 82 of Rye, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, November 21, 2010. He was born April 2, 1928 in the Herbine Community, a son of the late Edgar C. Thomasson and Myrtle Workman Thomasson. Mr. Thomasson served in the United States Army as a Sergeant during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He loved to fish and hunt, especially squirrel, deer and turkey; and wood working. Mr. Thomasson was a farmer, carpenter and an Arkansas State Forester for Twenty Four years, and was a member of Enon Missionary Baptist Church at Rye. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Earline Bussell Thomasson whom he married on November 22, 1955; brothers, Guy, Pete and James (Bud) Thomasson; sister, Lois Taylor.

Mr. Thomasson is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Gilbert Moring, Carol and Jimmy Pennington, all of New Edinburg; brother, E. C. Thomasson of White Hall; four sisters, Eunice Owen of Star City, Mamie Crane, Opal Green, both of Pine Bluff, Betty James of Woodlawn; five grandchildren, Trent Sullivan and wife Elizabeth of Lowell, Daniel Dees of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Cody Sullivan of Warren, Hanna and A. J. Moring of New Edinburg; one great grandson, Logan Sullivan.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Buie Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Michael Kelly and Brother Myron Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. Soloists are Jimmy Pennington, Roger and Angel Owen. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Buie Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Trent Sullivan, Daniel Dees, Cody Sullivan, A.J. Moring, Keith James and Todd James. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Rex Morrison, Pat Gibson III, J. W. Gavin, Gary Taylor, W. J. Thomasson, J. S. Gibson and Bruce Sullivan. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital Memorial Program. P. O. Box 3704, Memphis, Tennessee 38173-0704.
