Charles Ray Briant

July 15, 1921 — May 23, 2011

Charles Ray Briant, age 89 of the Rowell Community, died Monday, May 23, 2011 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born on July 15, 1921 in New Edinburg, a son of the late Walter Cleveland Briant and Mattie B. Thompson Briant. Mr. Briant served in the United States Army during World War II; worked for Ben Pearson Archery and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Center Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Briant was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Ruth Simms Briant; four siblings, Lucille Cox, Herbert Briant, Eunice Phillips and Louie Briant.

Mr. Briant is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Clifton and Nora Briant of Monticello, Kenneth Briant of Wolfe City, Texas; three grandchildren and their spouses, Morgan Briant, Douglas and Brittni Briant, Stephen and Jessica Briant.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Center Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Doney Blackerby and Brother Andy Connard officiating. Interment will follow at Rowell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Morgan Briant, Douglas Briant, Stephen Briant, Jimmy Bradley, Dennis Bradley and Jerry Pennington. Memorials may be given to the charity of the donors choice.
