Carthel Lee Harris

Carthel Lee Harris, age 84 of Sheridan, Arkansas, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at his home. He was born September 29, 1926 in Prattsville, Arkansas, a son of the late Harvey L. Harris and Vida E. Hope. Mr. Harris was a retired Iron worker. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Mr. Harris attended Bethany #1 Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Harvey, and Clarence Harris, one sister, Lyndell Davis, one son, Calvin, and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Thatta Bobbie Harris of Sheridan; one daughter, Frieda (Sonny) Axsom of Sheridan; two brothers, Bill Harris of Sheridan, and Charles Doc Harris of Ashland, Oregon; three sisters, Sue Lowery of Reeds Port, Oregon, Vaughnita Hubbard of Patterson, Louisiana, and Doris Faye Harris of Anderson, California and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildern.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 13, 2011 at Buie Funeral Home Chapel with Brothers Roger Taylor and Rusty Womble officiating. Interment will follow in Ephesus Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation will be 5:00 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan. Memorials may be made to Bethany #1 Missionary Baptist Church in Grapevine.
