C Edward Akines

C. Edward Akines age 82 of Pine Bluff, died Thursday February 26, 2009. He was born March 28, 1926 in the Rowell Community, a son of the late Lawrence Akines and Linie McGriff Akines. Mr. Akines was employed by Coca Cola for thirty nine years before his retirement. He was a member of Rose Hill Deer Club and a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Akines was also preceded in death by three brothers, Jirel Akines, Homer Akines and Wilman Akines.

Mr. Akines is survived by his wife, Syble Akines of Pine Bluff; three sons, Danny Akines of Pine Bluff, Arlin Akines of Star City, Glen Akines of Pine Bluff; one daughter, Judy Brown of Pine Bluff; one brother, Claudie Akines of Pine Bluff; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2009 at Buie Chapel in Rison with Brother Bill Kiggins officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. The family will receive guest from 6:00 to 8:00 p. m, Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Buie Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Rob Varnell, Tyler Akines, James Cozad, Adam James, Lee Akines, Johnny Akines, Brian Akines and Bobby Akines.
