Bruce Nicks

Bruce Nicks age 75 of the Y Community near Rison, died, Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born December 10, 1932 in Swan Lake, Arkansas, a son of the late Quinton Doke Nicks and Sarah Ester Bethel Nicks. Mr. Nicks served in the United States Navy and was the retired owner of Nicks Custom Slaughter. He was a member of the Mountain Cur Breeders Association, was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. Mr. Nicks was of the Baptist faith. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Q. D. Nicks, Douglas Nicks, Roger Nicks, Bob Nicks, Kenneth Nicks; two sisters, Janice Green, Ester Ann Nicks.

Mr. Nicks is survived by one son, Mike Nicks of Conway; three step sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis and Debra Watson, Scott Watson of Grapevine, Thomas and Teresa Watson of the Y Community; one daughter, Ruthie Ross of Chicago, Illinois; one step daughter, Sue Austin of Florida; one brother, Dan Walker Micky Nicks of Devine, Texas; one step grandchild, Chris Watson of Rison; two step great grandchildren, Hunter and Taylor Watson of Rison.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Buie Funeral Chapel in Rison with Brother Jerry Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery near Rison. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2008 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216.
