Brother Harold D. Sims

Brother Harold D. Sims, age 85, of Kingsland went to be with his Lord, Friday, July 7, 2017. Brother Sims was born March 20, 1932 in New Edinburg, Arkansas, the son of Samuel Horatio Sims and Priscilla Josephine Langford Sims. He was a New Edinburg "Eagle" graduating in 1950 from New Edinburg High School. After graduating from high school he entered the United States Navy. He served on a small destroyer in the Atlantic Ocean. He served mostly in the North Sea. He married Mary Frances Turner on December 21, 1954. He worked as a fireman in Greenville, Texas. He also delivered bread for the Wonder Bread Company around the Greenville area. He moved back to Arkansas in 1958 with Mary Frances and their two children, Donald and Kathy. He retired as a welder from Central Maloney Transformer Company in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Harold surrendered to the Lord's ministry in 1973. The first church he pastored was South Main Missionary Baptist at Lake Village, Arkansas. During his nearly forty years of ministry he pastored churches at Tinsman, Sparkman, Hampton and Bearden. In addition to his parents, Brother Sims was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Mary Frances Sims; brothers, Samuel Alfred Sims, Grover Lee Sims, Johnny Edgar Sims, Lester and Vester Sims, Lewis Sims, C.V. Sims, Roland Sims; sisters, Kathleen Sims and Maxine Miller.

Survivors include: son, Donald Sims and wife, Donna of Kingsland; daughter, Kathy Wylie and husband, James of Norphlet; brother, Arling Sims of Gainesville, Florida; nephew-like a brother, Jack Sims of Overton, Texas; niece-like a sister, Frances Nell Wilson of Jackson, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Donaven Sims and wife, Abby, Jay Wylie and wife, Jessica, Shasta Mills and husband, Clay, Derrick Sims and wife, Alaina; nine great grandchildren, Carter Sims, Claire Sims, Caroline Sims, Janson Wylie, Judd Wylie, Jolie Wylie, Carson Mills, Molly Mills, Isla Sims and a host of nephews, nieces, friends and church goers.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with Brother Ronald "Captain" Smead, Donaven Sims and Jay Wylie officiating. Interment will follow at Cross Roads Cemetery in Kingsland. Visitation will be 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 10, 2017 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Ray Sims, Mike Sims, Mike Brown, Mike Aist, John Connell and Steve Turner; honorary pallbearers are Calvin Sims, Charles Sims, Ricky Wilson, Farrell Wilson and Jason Connell.
