Brother Joe F. Lunsford, age 78, of the Calmer Community near Rison, died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the Gardner Nursing Home in Star City. He was born March 14, 1931, in Cleveland County, a son of the late Marcus Louis Lunsford and Alma Bertha White Lunsford. Mr. Lunsford served in the Army during the Korean War, was a retired Missionary Baptist Minister and retired from the International Paper Company. He was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Lunsford was also preceded in death by two brothers; one sister.
Mr. Lunsford is survived by his wife, Frances Greenlee Boyd Lunsford of the Calmer Community; two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny Jo Burton and David of Star City, Teresa Karen Bailey and Stan of New Hope, Arkansas; two step sons and daughters-in-law, Jim Boyd and Vickie of Calmer, Richard Lunsford and Margaret of Tyro, Arkansas; two step daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Jean Booher and Carolyn Gail Courtney and Jerry, all of Calmer; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with Brother Jackie Richardson and Brother Calvin Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Buie Funeral Home of Rison. Pallbearers are J. E. Greenlee, Troy Lunsford, Thomas Lee White, James Acklen, Bobby Joe White, and James Royce White. Honorary pallbearers are Scotty Vinson and Danny Brock.
