Brenda Sue (Roshell) Hodges

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Brenda Sue Hodges (née Roshell), who passed away on December 7th, 2023, at the age of 61.

Born on February 2nd, 1962, in Rison, Arkansas to Johnnie (Sam) Roshell and Sarah Elizabeth (née Caudle) Roshell, she grew up in Rison and later moved to Columbus, Georgia. She was a dedicated and loving wife to her husband Alvin Hodges, and a devoted mother to her children Brandon and Landon Hodges and daughter-in-law Meya Hemphill-Hodges.

Brenda lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. A devout Christian and a woman of service, Brenda was always willing to help those in need and never neglected to show kindness or love to anyone. A 1980 graduate of Rison High School, and 1985 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB), and a recipient of a master’s degree in Dietetics from Troy University, Brenda loved serving her community and sharing her passion in her work to fulfill the lives of everyone she met.

She is survived by her Husband Alvin (married 1987), her children Brandon (Meya) Hodges, and Landon Hodges; her siblings John (Addie) Roshell, Sr., Herman Roshell, Donald (Donna) Roshell Sr., Peggy Roshell, Janet (Earnest-widowed) Brown, and Martha Hill; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Rest in peace, dear mother. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2023 at the New Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 14, 2023  at New Life Missionary Baptist Church in Rison from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
