Bobby Gage Bennett

Bobby Gage Bennett, a Jonesboro native, passed away on Wednesday May 1, 2013. He was born August, 1934 in Jonesboro where he spent most of his life. He served our country in the United States Air Force and he then attended and graduated from Arkansas State College. Bob was a successful businessman and real estate broker for many years. As a young man he attended Fisher Street Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served on the deacon body. Additionally, he was active in local politics and served as a Jonesboro alderman. He was later appointed by then Governor Bill Clinton, to serve as a commissioner on the Arkansas Parks and Tourism Commission. He was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Donna Sue Bennett, his grandson Sam Patterson of Little Rock, his parents, Hinson and Ophelia Bennett and his brother Ron G. Bennett, also of Jonesboro. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Keith and Debbie Bennett of Little Rock, his daughter Bobbi Dawn Patterson of Little Rock, his sister Nina Parker of Jonesboro, and his sister Phyllis Olson of Pinehurst, NC. Other survivors include his mother-in-law Marion "Crick" Keith of Leachville, AR and 6 grandsons, Joshua Bennett, Kyle Bennett, Alex Bennett, Zachary Bennett, Bennett Patterson, and George Patterson. There will be a graveside service at the Herman Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday May 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM.
