Billy Kenneth Reed

Billy Kenneth Reed, age 83, of the Calmer Community near Rison, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the V A Hospital. He was born October 12, 1929 in Cleveland County, a son of the late Fred Reed and Laura Phelps Reed. Mr. Reed was a graduate of Woodlawn High School, and served in the Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Brown and Root Construction Company, and was a distributer of Borden Dairy Product and owner of Reed's Super Shell and the Auto Clinic. Mr. Reed was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved watching sports and passing his knowledge to his sons. He had a gift of storytelling and left many memories for his family to cherish. Mr. Reed was the President of Reed's Hunting Club. He was a 32 degree Mason and a member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Reed was also preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Johnnie Reed; a granddaughter, Laura Courtney Reed. Mr. Reed is survived by his wife of sixty three years, Rolean Laminack Reed of Calmer; four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Lea Ellen Reed of Sheridan, Ronald Joe Reed, Gary and Debbie Reed, all of Hot Springs, Randall Reed of Calmer; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Glen Durkee of Woodlawn; one brother and sister-in-law, Homer Allen and Lela Mae Reed of Calmer; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Buie Funeral Home with Brother Doney Blackerby officiating. Burial will follow in Rowell Cemetery. Visitation is 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, prior to service time. Pallbearers are grandsons, Adam Reed, Randall Reed, Joe Reed, Bryan Durkee, Branon Fryar and Steven Glisson. Honorary pallbearers are Leonard Small, W. J. Thomasson, Bobby Parker, Floyd Wooley, Robert Allen Norton, Dewayne Donaldson, Bob Small and Sam Harris. Memorials may be made to Center Missionary Baptist Church, 60 Cole Road, Rison, Arkansas 71665. Arrangements are by Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870) 325-6216
