Billy Joe Poss

Billy J. Poss, Sr., age 78, of Richmond, Missouri, formerly of Rison, died Saturday, December 15, 2012. He was born February 16, 1934 in Grant County, a son of the late Joe Tom and Versie James Poss. Mr. Poss served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Mary Maxine Crawford of Kingsland in February 1955. Mr. Poss worked as a Mechanic for several repair shops in Rison. He lived most of his life in Rison until moving to Richmond in 2010. He was of the Christian faith and attended the Hardin Baptist Church while living in Richmond. Mr. Poss was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Maxine Crawford Poss on July 2, 2010; two brothers, Johnnie C. Poss and Donald Ray Poss; one sister, Edna Neel; one grandson, Jamie McElwee; and two great-grandchildren, which died in infancy. Mr. Poss is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Poss, Jr. and Jackie of Richmond, Missouri; one daughter, Connie Dianne Davis of Sherwood; one brother and sister-in-law, Guy Poss and Pat of Rison; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2012, at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2012, at Davis Cemetery in Grapevine with Reverend Mike Cottrell officiating.
