Billie "Bill" Jerril Atchley

Billie "Bill" Jerril Atchley, age 69, of Sheridan, went to be with the Lord December 2, 2011 after an honorable battle with Alzheimer's. He was born July 10, 1942 in the Ephesus Community located south of Sheridan in Grant County, the ninth child of the late Henry Amos and Ethyl McClung Atchley. Bill graduated from Sheridan High School, retired from Weyerhaeuser Company, and was owner of B & K Atchley Trucking Company where he worked for over 20 years. He was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church, a member of the Pine Bluff Masonic Lodge # 69, a 32nd degree Mason with the Scottish Rite in Little Rock, a member of the Sahara Shrine in Pine Bluff, and the Royal Order of Jesters #39. He was also a veteran of the 39th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army and the Arkansas National Guard. Bill loved his God, family and friends and will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents Bill was also preceded in death by two brothers James B., and Dan J., six sisters, Marie Strawn, Ruby Grooms, Maxine Skorcz, Imogene Fabry, Betty Lou Clark, and Henrietta Nelson. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Karen (White) Atchley, of Sheridan one son Jerry Atchley (Michelle) of Hensley, one daughter Tracita "Traci" Caldarera (Tom) of Fort Smith, four grandsons, Jarrett Atchley, Tommy, Eli, and Ian Caldarera, one brother Albert Atchley of Sheridan, and a large number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Nathan Atchley, Dennis Culpepper, Dale Clark, James Clark Donald Clark, Keith Martindale, Randy Bowlin and Russell Atchley. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Nealey, Butch Mitcherson, Charles Lunsford, Bobby Peltz, Butch Campbell, Frank Wilson, Albert Altchley, Don Bell, and John Hardin. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12: 30 P.M. until 2: 00 P.M. Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan, Arkansas with Brother Albert Michael and Brother Micah McKinley officiating. Pianist and Soloist will be Jamie and Dusty Lunsford and Sister Virginia Michael. Interment will follow the service at Center Grove Cemetery near Sheridan with Masonic Rites. The Family would like to thank the Nurses and Staff of Sheridan Nursing Home and Rehab Center and the Arkansas Hospice Caregivers for the wonderful care they provided during the last several years.
