Betty Dale Walton

Ms. Betty Dale Walton (aka Nanny), age 81, of Joan, Arkansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 13th 2024. She was born on April 15,1942 in Gould, Ar. to the late Leroy and Vannie (Welch).

At the age of 15, Betty enjoyed going to the Sheridan Skating Rink and that is where she met the love of her life, Teddy Walton. Teddy and Betty settled down in Leola, and soon started their family, two girls came along, Roxieann and Penny. Then a son, Dusty Walton.

Betty went to work at International Paper company as a saw filer, to help out the family home. The short stay in her mind turned into 15 plus years and then she retired. But retire, she could not. Betty loved to work, cook and be around people, so she took a job where she could do just that. Betty found her next employment at the Lono County Corner, where she spent 10 years. You knew walking into the store that Betty was going to take great care of you. She always greeted everyone with a smile and good conversation. To this day, many people still talk about the "sweetest gray headed lady at the store." After leaving the store, Betty was thrilled to stay home and care for her grandson, Remy. No one knew then what a pair these two would grow to be.

In 2016, her loving husband became ill, Betty stepped right in, giving Teddy the 24 hour care that he needed. Betty devoted the next two years being the devoted caregiver that her husband required. After the passing of her husband, Betty's oldest daughter, Roxieann Foster, was diagnosed with cancer. Betty and Penny loaded up and took off to Mississippi to care for their daughter/sister. Betty, Penny and Keith, Roxieann's husband, teamed up and provided around the clock care until she passed. After arriving back home, Betty found that the elderly in the surrounding communities needed her help. Betty had such a heart to help others and that she did, leaving a major impact on so many. Betty loved meeting new people and helping in any way she could.

Betty was a devoted and loving mother to her children, always at practices and never missing a game. Betty was a big supporter and the community knew they could always call on Betty to help.

After her children grew and got married, Betty was thrilled to have her family increase in size. Grandkids were the apple of her eye.

Then Betty & Teddy welcomed a son, Dusty Walton, and you would have thought she won the lottery, in her eyes she did. Twenty years later, Dusty would give her a grandson, Tyler Remington "Remy" Walton was born. As the years passed, Betty and Remy grew closer and closer together. No one held Betty's heart the way that her grandson, Remy did. Remy was the driving force behind her, she lived for him.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy & Vannie Welch, husband of 59 years, Theordore "Teddy" Walton, sister, Vida Pearl, brothers, John and Billy Welch, and daughter Roxieann Foster.

She is survived by brother, Nelson (Joyce) Welch and sister, Leverne Newton of Sheridan, son-in-law, Keith Foster (the late Roxieann Foster), daughter Penny (Kirk) Chidester of Poyen, son, Dusty (Amanda) Walton of RoundHill.

Grandchildren: Linda (Mike) Augustine, Dana (David) Brown, Hunter Chidester, Madison Foster, Remy Walton and (the late) Little Keith Foster.

Great Grandchildren: Jacie, Clayton, Bella, Cason, Caleb Williams, Adalynn Brown, Aliyah, Sami Alyami, Kinnin Dobbs and Raeley Anderson.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
