Betty Jewel Jacks

Betty Jewel Jacks, age 88, of the Rowell community near Rison, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. Ms. Jacks was born March 26, 1929 in Herbine, Arkansas, to J. Q. and Dean Powers Richardson. She married R. L. Jacks on December 24, 1946, and they had sixty-four years of marriage before his death on January 3, 2011. She was a loving wife, mom, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt and a friend to many. She was the glue that kept the family going. She was a homemaker and a devoted and faithful member of Center Missionary Baptist Church in Rowell, Arkansas. In addition to her parents, Ms. Jacks was preceded in death by her husband, R. L. Jacks; two brothers, Joe Richardson, Rex Richardson and one sister, Macel Ashcraft.

She is survived by her children, Mary Ann (Don) Parrish, Danny (Marcell) Jacks and Patti Wilson, all of Rowell, Jeanie (Billy) Bates of Star City; sisters, Louise Jacks of Rison, Linda (Cary) Taylor of Rye; grandchildren, Paul (Christie) Donaldson, Leigh Anne Parrish, Cindy Jacks, Greg (Selena) Jacks, all of Rowell, Kristy Lynn (Wayne) Herrington of Macedonia, Ashley (Kevin) Hawkins of Star City; great grandchildren, Alex (Caty) Donaldson of Pine Bluff, Callie Donaldson, Kagan Jacks Easter, Jacob Jacks, Tayte McCain, Jaxson Case, all of Rowell, Kirsten Jacks of Conway, Katie Donaldson of Fayetteville, Brooke Herrington of Macedonia, Shelby (Tucker) Booth of Minot, North Dakota, Maggie Claire Bates Hawkins, Kooper Bates Hawkins, both of Star City; great-great grandchildren, Austynn Donaldson, Audrey Booth; sister-in-laws, Louise Richardson of Rowell, Pauline Jacks of Rison, Joyce Jacks of Jonesboro; her beloved dog, Sarge and her loving caretaker, Kim Thornton.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Center Missionary Baptist Church in Rowell with Brother Jackie Richardson (nephew) and Brother Doney Blackerby (long-time pastor) officiating. Interment will follow at Rowell Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 7, 2017 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison.
