Betty Cummings

Betty Lou Cummings, age 79, of Rison went to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 29, 2018. She was born March 4, 1939 to the late Marshall and Mattie Cross. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years James Donald Cummings, one daughter, Anita Lou Cummings, two brothers, Sam and Goldman Cross, and four sisters, Eunice Whitlock, Opal Cobb, Ruby Cross and Lola Swint. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing, collecting ashtrays, butterflies, post cards and cookbooks. She also enjoyed reading, gardening and bird watching. She was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and was a member of the election board and EHC and caretaker of Randolph Cemetery. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother , great-grandmother and a second mother to many.

She is survived by her daughters, Joesetta Lou Beard (Danny), Melinda Lou Cummings, Donna Louise Ripp (Joseph), two grandsons, DJ and Jason Beard and one great-grandson Blaze Beard and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends and her constant companion, her little dog, Belle.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Randolph Cemetery.
