Beth Thomasson Polk

Devoted wife, mom, grandma, sister, and friend Beth Thomasson Polk left this world to be with her savior on January 18th at the age of 71. She was surrounded by her loving family who will continue to love her and remember her legacy in their lives.

Beth was born in Pansy, Arkansas on April 24th, 1951 to Dick and Rosa Mae Thomasson. She attended Woodlawn schools and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1969 before attending the University of Arkansas at Monticello and receiving her Education degree. Beth enjoyed growing up on her family farm, helping raise tomatoes and other activities.

Beth married Bill Polk of Monticello, Arkansas, her faithful husband of almost 50 years June 2nd 1973. Together they would live in Raleigh, North Carolina and Owensboro, Kentucky before finally settling in Tulsa in 1981. Before having children, Beth was an elementary school teacher in North Carolina and Kentucky. She would pick this up again as she was a substitute teacher with Tulsa Public Schools for several years. Beth was an incredible mother to Ryan and Ellen and loved the opportunity to be a stay at home mom and raise them. In addition to being a faithful wife and mother, Beth was an active member of several churches, an avid gardener and decorator, and enjoyed celebrating and decorating for Christmas with a passion. She was also an avid sports fan, especially of the Chicago Cubs. She was a faithful friend and greatly enjoyed keeping up with people through sending dozens of letters and cards weekly and of course Facebook.

Beth was happiest being with her family. She remained very close through the years with her brother Dickie and sister Laura Lea’s family as well as numerous cousins. In later years, she enjoyed nothing more than her many trips to Norman and Ohio to spend as much time as possible with her eight grandchildren.

Beth is preceded in death by her parents Dick and Rosa Mae Thomasson. She is survived by her husband Bill; son Ryan Polk and wife Kara of Norman, Oklahoma ; daughter Ellen Wood and husband Jon of Cedarville, Ohio; brother Dickie Thomasson of Fayetteville, Arkansas; sister Laura Lea King and husband Mike of Franklin, Tennessee; eight grandchildren: Cooper Polk, Marin Polk, Jackson Wood, Maddy Polk, Olivia Wood, Malia Polk, Parker Wood, and Lincoln Wood.

A celebration of life will be held at South Tulsa Baptist Church on Monday, January 23, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.  A private family graveside will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Pansy Cemetery, with a visitation for the family to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Prosperity United Methodist Church.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the South Tulsa Baptist Church missions fund.
