Barbara Ann (Mulherin) Layrock

January 13, 1942 — March 9, 2021

Searcy

Barbara Ann Layrock, 79, of Searcy, passed away March 9, 2021 at Unity Health in Searcy.  She was born January 13, 1942 at Griffithville to the late Homer and Ora Moore Mulherin.
Mrs. Layrock graduated from Griffithville High School, going on to University of Arkansas at Little Rock where she obtained her education to fulfill her career as a Registered Nurse, being employed with White County Medical Center for over 30 years, before retiring.  As with most active people, retirement for Barbara was short lived.  She enjoyed traveling and seeing God’s beauty, but soon, she was ready to get back to work.  Work for her, was helping and serving fellow mankind, just as she had done in her nursing career.  She most recently was an Adjunct Clinical Nursing Instructor for ASU Beebe.  Barbara wore many hats and many things can summarize the active and beautiful life she lead, but her core being was rooted and grounded her faith in the precious blood of Christ and trying to be the best example of how to live as Christ lived.
She married Larry Sneed Layrock December 1, 1958 at Griffithville.  He preceded her in death January 2004.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, and three sisters.
Her memory and legacy will be carried on by her beloved family to include three sons, David Layrock, Michael Layrock (Donna Kay), and Ronald Layrock (Nancy) all of Griffithville; two daughters, Carolyn Light of Covington, Texas and Brenda Smith (Scott) of West Point; nine grandchildren, Beth, Danny, Andrew, and Lucas Layrock, Whitney Williams, Cory Light, Christopher Smith, Ashley Bryant, and Charles Smith; nineteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie McIntosh of Des Arc and Mary Dell Layrock of Oklahoma City; three brothers, John Mulherin of Devalls Bluff, George Mulherin of Wynne, and Gary “Bo” Mulherin of Judsonia.   She is also survived by one special friend, Larry Turner as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021 with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Sullivan Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at West Point Cemetery.
