Barbara Ann Kee

Barbara Ann Kee was born on April 7, 1944 to Bonnie Gayler Kee and James “Elmer” Henry Kee in Spur, Texas. Her early childhood was spent near Lubbock, Texas. When she was 10 years old her family moved to Searcy, Arkansas where she attended Harding Academy and Harding University. She then received her Master of Library Science degree from Syracuse University. She spent two years in Geneva, Switzerland and several years in Louisiana working for the Whites Ferry Road School of Biblical Studies as a librarian, counselor, and Bible teacher. She received her Master’s in Marriage and Family Counseling from the University of Louisiana in Monroe. She received her Doctorate in Marriage and Family Counseling from Texas Woman’s University and practiced as a Marriage and Family counselor in Richardson, Texas and later as a doctoral dissertation coach for many years.

Her primary passion throughout her life was sharing the good news of the gospel and she devoted her life to teaching ladies bible studies, private bible studies, and embarked on numerous mission trips to Europe. She wrote eight Christian historical romance books under the pen name of A. J. Hawke. In 2015, she returned to live in Searcy and was a member of the College Church of Christ.

She is predeceased by her parents, and brothers James Lee Kee, Doyle Max Kee, Wayne Kee, Norman Kee and sisters Venus Nell Kee, Quada Lois Kee, Violet Ruth Kee, and a nephew Daniel Kee. She is survived by her brother Windle Kee (Barbara) of Wichita Falls, Texas, and sisters Jeanette Schoof (Russell) of Yukon, Oklahoma and Marie Kee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, many nieces and nephews and numerous brothers and sisters in Christ around the world.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at College Church of Christ in Searcy, Arkansas.
