Archie DeWayne Chambers, Sr., age 80, of Harrison, AR, passed away Saturday, March 27th, 2021, at Unity Health Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas.
He was born October 10, 1940, in Harrisburg, IL to the late Archie Floyd Chambers and Jewell Chambers. Archie served twenty years during the Vietnam Era and retired from the United States Air Force as a Security Police Supervisor while also serving in the United States Army. After his retirement from the military, he was employed with Vienna Correctional Facility as a Corrections Officer for over twenty years. In his spare time, he enjoyed time on his boat, camping, hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors as well as being with his family.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 57 years, Colleen Chambers of Harrison; two sons, James Crowl of Ottawa, Kansas; Archie Chambers, Jr (Carmen) of Beebe; two sisters, Donna Chambers and Mary Neighbors both of Illinois; three grandchildren, Jeff Crowl, Lance Chambers, Gary Crowl, seven great-grandchildren as well as many extended family and friends.
In addtion to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Ella Brandt.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 30th, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Vilonia Funeral Home Chapel 1134 Main Street Vilonia, AR 72173. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, April 1st, 2021, at 2:00 pm in Maple Leaf Cemetery 1419 Maplewood Road, Harrison, Arkansas 72601, with Military Honors. Bishop John Scheel and Pastor Jason Scheel will officiate.
