Almus Leopard, age 81, of Rison, went to be with the Lord, Monday, April 2, 2012. He was born May 29, 1930 in Hill House, Mississippi, a son of the late Julius J. Leopard and Lucy M. Lunsford Leopard. Mr. Leopard was a retired maintenance worker for Tyson Foods and was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. Mr. Leopard was also preceded in death by two brothers, James (Syber) Leopard, Raymond Leopard; one grandson, Steven Raye McKinney. Mr. Leopard is survived by his wife of sixty four years, Maggie Gracie Leopard of Rison, whom he married on December 20, 1947; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Debbie Leopard of Rison; three daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and James Green of Rison, Nina and Ward Hesselbein of White Hall, Deborah and Rick Hobbs of Watson Chapel; two brothers, Herman Leopard of Rison, Jesse Leopard of Little Rock; one sister, Ola Mae Bowlin of Rison; eight grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Buie Funeral Home with Brother Jim Tollison and Brother C. E. VanNess officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Buie Funeral Home in Rison. Pallbearers are Mack Leopard, David Leopard, Dewayne Leopard, Jack Rodgers, Barry Gracie and David Davis. Honorary pallbearers are James Royce White, Thomas White, Dewey Rawls and Randall Gracie. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buie Funeral Home of Rison (870)325-6216.
